Associate Professor David Silvera Tawil is a senior digital health and assistive technology leader with over 15 years’ experience driving strategic innovation and responsible R&D translation across disability, aged care, and chronic disease management. A Principal Research Scientist and Team Leader at CSIRO’s Australian e Health Research Centre, he works at the intersection of AI, robotics, sensing, public policy, and clinical delivery, with a strong focus on moving emerging technologies from laboratory research into real world adoption.

David has led nationally significant digital health and assistive technology initiatives, and has contributed to national governance and evidence frameworks through roles such as the NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee. His approach is characterised by participatory design, Responsible innovate on, and regulatory readiness, ensuring technologies are safe, ethical, and fit for scale.

He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at UNSW, a highly cited researcher, and an INSEAD Executive Education graduate. His current focus is enabling predictive, AI enabled models of care that can be deployed responsibly across health and care systems.
